Press Release: Teaming Up to Fight Hunger
This holiday season, Kalamata Greek Grill invites customers to join them in the battle against hunger in metropolitan Detroit.
The fresh food eatery – with locations in Royal Oak and Troy – will donate 10 percent of its proceeds each Saturday between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day to Forgotten Harvest, a charity dedicated to combating hunger.
“During this special time of year, we want to do our part to help stave off hunger for the more than 500,000 people living in poverty in the tri-county area,” said Tom Chinonis, CEO of Kalamata Greek Grill.
Susan Goodell, Forgotten Harvest president and CEO, said, “We deeply appreciate Kalamata’s support and how they’ve made it easy for others to support our mission.”
Kalamata Greek Grill selected Saturdays during the holidays to leverage heavier traffic from holiday shoppers looking for a fast and healthy meal. “We’re big fans of Forgotten Harvest and hope to maximize our contribution to them between now and the end of the year.”
Kalamata Greek Grill is located in Royal Oak at 32538 Woodward Ave. and in Troy at 3149 Crooks Rd.

About Forgotten Harvest
Forgotten Harvest was formed in 1990 to fight two problems: hunger and waste. Forgotten Harvest "rescued"45.5 million pounds of food last year by collecting surplus prepared and perishable food from 455 sources, including grocery stores, fruit and vegetable markets, restaurants, caterers, dairies, farmers, wholesale food distributors and other Health Department-approved sources. This donated food, which would otherwise go to waste, is delivered free-of-charge to more than 280 emergency food providers in the Metro Detroit area.
